Saumil Majmudar is the Co-founder, CEO & Managing Director of SportzVillage (www.sportzvillage.com) – India’s leading grassroots sports organisation. Started in 2003, SportzVillage helps schools & colleges (through EduSports), corporates/brands (through SportzConsult) & consumers (through ActiveClub) experience the magic of sports for meeting their education, health & fitness, fun, employee engagement and brand building goals. As an entrepreneur since 1998, Saumil has experienced various stages of building a business including dealing with multiple failures, building a team, raising funds from angels & institutions, pivoting to find the product-market fit, trying multiple business models and finally building a sustainable and scalable SportzVillage business that today, helps 1 million people experience the magic of sport. Saumil represented EduSports on India’s leading Social Activism Platform on Television - Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate Sports episode – where EduSports was chosen as the sustainable & scalable model of getting children to play. He has also received the CII Emerging Entrepreneur Award and has been recognized as one of the “Top 50 Leaders influencing Education” by Education World.
In his student days, Saumil was selected for the Maharashtra Badminton team and represented IIT Bombay in Football. Prior to 2003, Saumil was the Founder-CEO of QSupport (one of India’s first remote tech support businesses) and worked with Wipro (Global R&D) in the International marketing team. Saumil holds a B-Tech degree & is a Distinguished Service Alumnus from IIT-Bombay, a PGDM from IIM-Bangalore, a Basic Mountaineering Degree from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (Uttarkashi) & a Black belt in Karate. He continues to follow his passion for sports through regular badminton, karate and an increasingly rare round of golf.
